I have a 1989 S10 5 speed with an electric speed sensor.. How do I hook up a speedo to it?? I really don't want to take off the tail shaft if I don't have to.. Is there any speedo that will work with the S10 sensor?? I have read all the S10 threads and really didn't find a definitive answer or maybe I missed it and don't want to buy one of those $300 boxes if I don't have to.. Thanks for any help...

It's my understanding that all Classic Instrument speedos work with GM electronic speed sensors. You get a "classic" correct looking speedo and no cable or adapters needed. And best all no ugly LCD odometer.

I also heard that some of the SW stuff will work too.

i think Cyberdyne might have something that would work:

    a) This time i really can't provide a link until tonight because i really AM in a hurry, mental problems notwithstanding (see my other posts). You might try their site yourself. Note: i switched to a completely digital cyberdyne speedo/tach/odometer from a factory analog and works great.

    b) Would you consider using a gps speedo/odom? This way NO wiring.

I have, very easy hook up and once you have it calibrated you can forget it. If you change rear tire size or the rear gear just recalibrate and done.

Go to Abbott Enterprises in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Their X-Cable Kit takes pulse output from tranny and converts it to a DC cable drive for $350.00. 870-535-4973.

Speedhut GPS instantly correct no matter if you change gear ratios or tire size, only have to provide 12v power to the speedo and place the 1 inch sq. magnetized GPS EYE somewhere near the windshield ( pencil is pointing at it )= $144.oo
