If thats the hieght the top of the shell has to sit at, I would consider trying to round the top corners more and put a little more crown in the top to better mimic the shape of the cowl. That will tend to pull the eye down the sides of the shell. Just a thought. I realize the shape/dimensions of the top rad tank are limiting what you can do here.

If possible you should defiantly not put a 32 grille on this. Yours is heaps cooler.

I'm really inclined to agree with Dana, and now is the time. Can you get the core shortened? Even if you can drop the grill shell 1.5" it will make a HUUUUGE difference. I honestly really like the shape of the existing nose, its good, in a sixties show-rod kinda way, the reason its not sitting right with you or us is because its too high, and the flat top exaggerates it, because the cowl line is slightly lower, and is curved across the top. I think a flat-topped grill shell can work here, but it HAS to be lower than the cowl. In my opinion, for the flat-topped grill shell to work, when you crouch down in front of the car and sight along the top outside edge of the grill shell just before it curves down, THAT spot has to be in a lower plane, or at least even with the corresponding area of the cowl. Right now, the centerline of the grill shell looks to be even with the centerline of the cowl, but the corners of the grill shell are HIGHER than the corresponding area on the cowl. See what I am saying? Not gonna work, IMHO.

Judging by the fan spacer, looks like you could move the rad back a bit, drop the bottom tank behind the crossmember, and extend the sides of the grill shell back a bit, with a notch at the bottom to clear the crossmember, Bobs yer uncle.
IMO, you are REAL close to "totally bitchin'" status, dont stop now.

If you do chopped '32 grill shell, this thing cries out for a horizontal bar grill insert. Check out the one Nostalgia59 made for his surf kart.

    Thanks for the opinions fellas.....
Here's the deal....the current radiator cannot be moved, the bottom outlet and front crossmemeber have dictated where it goes. I've used this same radiator before, but what screwed me this time is the lower cowl of the T. I used same type radiator last time on my Model A. DOH......the only option would be to spend $600+ for a custom radiator with a lower profile, rounded top, etc.......

I think a '32 shell will "almost" cure the issue. Of course I'll have to section it and will most likey take an inch or two out of the bottom center to "pinch" the bottom...
And yeah....a horizontal tube grill would rule....

I agree, the '32 shell will help alot, as the curve on top will better mimic the curve of the cowl. The flat-top custom shell would only work visually if its quite a bit lower. That grill Nostalgia59 did is the dogs danglers, isnt it?

    Yeah man...I dig it.....it's rad.

I'm too close to driving this thing to start tearing apart to re-engineer stuff like the radiator placement....or buy more part$$$....
I'm really just a hack and there's enough fucked up shit I'm hoping will work out...a grill shell and inch taller than the cowl is the least of my concerns....;)

I'm a driveline, shifter linkage and fuel tank away from a test drive.....:D

The newest thing in "wheelcovers". He's gonna duct tape those bad boys on there and go cruzin. Note that they ARE color-co-ordinated with the paint scheme...
