Hey guys. I was on Google Earth earlier today, looking up directions to a paint shop. I was in the "street view" mode to get a better look at the street, and when I panned the camera around, I saw this little guy: Any ideas on the year and make of it?
Don't know for sure, but now that you have published the address, someone else will be over there tomorrow buying it up!
Go to Charlotte Motor Speedway, on the historical imagery skip back a couple of years, (2010 ish) there's a full on car show. Scotty
"There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, ... It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. "
I appreciate the help....only reason I'm asking is that I plan to head over there tomorrow to take some pics of it and possibly use the image in future artwork. Knowing my subject matter is important
That thing has been there for probably 10 years. I use to live close by and pass it almost daily. The old story was the dude wanted way too much for it. Anyways, hit him up!
Wow, 10 years!? Probably why I missed it is because I stay on San Carlos when I drive through this part of town. Very interesting....
Some of those google photos are pretty out of date, google my house and its a photo from about 8 years ago, you may be lucky if its even still there!
Touchy touchy, SAM123, BTW, I was just over there this morning and it's still there. Lots of rust on the body, though, especially along the bottom of the cowl and doors.....definitely beyond my capabilities, but certainly a good candidate for those with the know-how.
Dr Dirt - Just found it on CL. A couple of pics from the ad: According to the ad, it's a Willis Overland body on an A frame with a '32 Chevy grille shell. Headlights are mid-60's Peterbuilt. He's looking for $2500. Is that price a little steep? Again, not interested in buying it....just curious.
Looks to be "staged" .... but as far as value, its all in the body ... they dont make that stuff anymore. ... a grand to 15the would seem more reasonable
The axle appears to be Mopar. It is a rolling project with a body. Probably not too bad for the money but of course less would be better.
I was checking out a route on google for a vehicle I was interested in, and thought man wouldn't it be neat if you could just click and drive a route in street view instead of having to click to move? Someone should create that, pick a spot, choose your direction, set the speed, and then just go.
Thank you, gentlemen....I must admit that when I first came across it, I got that momentary "itch" to go get it and use it to work on my building skills. But yeah, it's a little too rich for my blood. Perhaps I'll go back in another 10 yrs, and if it's still there, I'll shoot him an offer.
