I have a aluminum timing cover and oil pan and even with the narrow seal it seems to be too thick. I know that around pre 74 takes the narrow front seal and I have both with the gasket set but when I set the pan on it has about a 3/8 gap between it and the rail

  2. You might want to mention that you're talking about a SBC just for the record, and yes there is a thin and a thick front seal. It sounds like it may be a discrepancy with the aftermarket pieces, the pan and the timing cover. Are they from the same manufacturer?

sorry I forgot to add that but it is a sbc and yes both pieces came from the same place. I will call the tech line this week, I was just trying to make sure I wasn't missing something
