I bought this 53' chevy 150 2 dr. sedan off another hamber "copper head road" back in march 2012 its been sitting since then till T-day week end nov. 2012 and I started off by giving it a haircut! here is were i was bringing it home! stopped in at muncie dragway to make a few passes! lol! met the new track owner and talked to him about there nostalgia program and future events!
my profile is full of steps i took on the chop. if you have any Q's please ask i'll do my best to answer them asap. I have never done a custom or a chop before so I wanna give the hamb the credit were it deserves! because I have researched it all on here! also I would like to give something back so stay tuned!
before the chop... this was takin just after I finished the inner structure bracing I welded in out of 1" box tubing and the 1/2" tubing for the rear window braces
4" taken out of the A pillars (front) and 4-1/5" outta the C pillars (rear) slanted B pillars trying to retain the swoop in the drip rails and the contours below & the drip behind the 1/4 window!
cut out the B pillars on an angle I will be slanting the post when they go back in. I was doing this by myself so to keep all from binding, pinching, and help hold evrything i welded some 1" box to hold up the front under the A pillars! showing the piece of driprail that I wanna add in the swoop A pillars lined up and welded B pillars slanted and welded in starting on the 1/4 windows
just a quick run down my plans for the build: 4"-4.5" chop molded head light trim rings may french the lights? extend the rear 1/4's put a custom tail light in the bumper or bumper guards? extra grill teeth make the hood one pc. & put a peak on it ploy 5.60-15" WWW 1951' steel wheels remove clips and paint them gold chrome bullet caps and lugs the car needs to sit low so I got a kit from a buddy that he was never going to use so i bought it! its an air ride tech complete kit front suspension: MII IFS with tubular uppers and lowers rear suspension: 2 link truck arms motor: 394 olds w/3x2's trans: either a 700 r4 or a 4L80E? rear end: either a 9" or a 8.8 ford motor drivin air compressor
looking great so far. the plan sounds good. keep at it. if that is your first chop it really looks like you have done it before.

thnx to all ya! I am having a great time doing this build even though its a slow process... no need in gettin in any hurry? thats how things get all F'd up and you end up working twice as hard tring to fix it! I've been takin a break on workin on it here recently but now I got the itch to get back on it good in heavy! just went and bought my sheet metal to do the sail panels and other body mods I'll be doin!
