Great car! Put a healthy street SBC in it, three deuces, and four-speed. Add some nice mags and drive the wheels off it. Keep all the stock stuff in the garage for the next guy!

  3. Have any as found pictures ? That would fun to see nice ride.... had a 56, wish I still had it.

Nice find, you can tell by my name my favorite car. Check out/google inline 6, 4 barrel/intake and dual exhaust will perk up the 6. I'd paint the wheels red, put wide whites on it, and some red pinstripes for some color/mild custom, drive the wheels off. Or sell it, would bring big bucks, and you could build another 55.

327 with 283 crank = 302 (big bore, short stroke)
283 with 327 crank = 307 (small bore, long stroke)

Don't cut it up or lower it..Oil up the six popper good and throw it, and the trans in the garage .

Install pissed off solid lifter cam small block and 4 speed and have fun:)

No way i could leave the six in it.

That car looks badass I like the stance.

Don't get much cooler than that.

  9. Reminds me of a car a guy I knew back in 1968. He had a 150 without the back seat. He put a 409/2x4s and a 4 speed in it. That car had awesome torque. That car would be so sweet with a "W" motor in it.

Wow, my favorite car. And to be all original. Put a nice 283 or 327 in it. May have a 411 rear if not 370.

  13. there was a cute liitle chickee babe that drove a black 150 post to my high school about 1972...it looked so stock and grandmotherly....funny -she thought we were all just after her bush.....

Do the easy thing and leave as is. World already has too many big block shoebox coupes. Your 150 is bad ass and a very nice find.

Another vote to pull the six. I would do a 327 and a muncie. Let someone who loves those old sixes put it in an old pickup or something. In my book you are increasing the value by losing the six!!

  19. 6 & 7 chrome reverse, lose front bumper (store all the original stuff)- y' there kiddo!

I'd just cruise it as is. go to any show that allows them and there will be modified or restored 55-57's all over the place. you rarely see an unrestored example.

Well said Mr. 57. The O.P. will be doing the car a favor by leaving it as it is. The car is history the way it is. Once it's changed, it's history no more.

  23. What a beauty, drive it as it is or just drop in a SBC and leave it as it is.

That car is so original and so cool it would be hard to mess with it. That said my thoughts would be do nothing to change the appearance, Under the hood maybe a mid 60's 300hp or 350hp 327. The installation should look like it was done at the factory. Air cleaner, valve covers, pulleys, ect all original to the 327. Stock 1955 outside, stock 1963 under the hood. Nothing like a sleeper. As for the trans update to a later 3sp with OD or a Muncie with a stock appearing shifter ( but I would hate to cut that mat). You have the 55 I have always dreamed of finding, cherish it!

Clean car. I like the look . I would leave it alone and chop something else up for a BB.
