Does anyone have any Info on the whereabouts of the Famous Surf Woody. I know it was auctioned back in 1983, and may be in the hands of a collector in Texas. Any new info would be appreciated.
Those are two different cars the first was the Surf woody, the blue one was called the Calico woody. I was lucky enough to look over the fence into Barris' yard on Riverside off of Lankersheim as a kid and watched so many of his cars going together, he still owns the property, at least as a couple of years ago.
As I remember, Dick Dean was the one who did the major work on the Surf Woodie. But not sure where it ended up. Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net
My son(Jonzcustomshop) and I flew to Reno to buy the Surf Woody at Harrah's Auction in ...My bidder pass says '84...The car sold for 25 hundred(1980's) dollars...A fellow always dreams of what might have been...
"Rusty Bill" on here has some kind of old show car surf Woody? GOOD LUCK trying to get it from him!! ... Chris
If my scanner was up and running I'd post my picture of this one at a local cruise night in nearby Kokomo, IN back in the 80's. It was and may still be owned by Scott Pitcher of Kokomo. It's actually called the Calico Surfer. I think he may have also had the Surf Woody pictured above too, but it seems somebody else around here had it just recently.
