What will cause this to happen? This is the second time this has happened, two different vehicles, two different distributors, same module used in both units. Will the module cause this? The module is a MSD Rev limiter.

Cause what? You didn't give any description of the problem and we can't read minds.

If you are blowing modules it's most likely due to another problem such as a coil or secondary wiring issue. If you didn't use the dialectric grease on the back of the module to help transfer the heat away that may be the problem. Provided the module is in the distributor.

Are the distributors OEM or imports? I've seen at least one of the latter that had issues with rotor height. Could be too high and damaging the carbon as the shaft moves up when cam gear starts too turn or too far down from the start and arcing?

  11. rotor too close to the cap

actually the root of your problem is MSD

I belive there is a low resistance button to replace the "stockish" one you keep burning up. Might wanna check MSD.

  13. Why would a module cause that? I be thinking too damn many volts, but hell, those are the high di-electric caps and rotors!

put some clear dielectric grease on the rotor tip where it touches the cap button? "jist a dab'll do it" "use more only if you dare" :D
