What was your first speed equipment part?

I have not yet found a thread about your very first speed equipment part that you have bought. So if you do remember the speed shops name, the part or still have it with you still, please show us. Thanks Matt

dual carb intake for my 1954 chev 6 $20 used sold it later , we always bought stuff and used it for awhile, reverbs, tires and wheels , tachs
never made any money off it, but got to use it for awhile from 1964 to 69
made a lot of stuff too had a lot more ambition than money
redrilled intakes to 2gc from 97s and used to weld up dual carb intakes for 6 cyl all done with a buzz box and no real skill but it all went down the road

Running gear out of a 65 GTO for my 56 GMC 1/2 Ton back in the 70s.

 

I was 10yrs old, it was a Hexagon Tool 2 duece flathead intake for $8 at a local swap meet with my Dad.

My first real speed part was probably a Spark-o-matic 3 speed shifter for a 54 Ford with a 6 in it. Most likely bought at California Speed and Sport in New Brunswick N.J.

 

mine was an aluminum flex fan from nationwise autoparts

 

My first speed part was a 4 deuce manifold for my 291 desoto hemi bought of a guy that was advertising in a hemmings parts book. I then bought 7 strombergs to build four working carbs . Added a lil more cam to her at the same time. Sounds beautiful. Looks good. Mt first spead part. Sort no pics im stol working off my cell. Computer will be back up soon

 

Offenhauser dual-quad manifold for a Chevy 409. Never used it, still have it; just never got around to selling it.

 

A pair of Cal Custom valve covers for a Ford 390. I bought them from JC Whitney about 1974 and as I recall the catalog didn't say the valve covers were Cal Custom, just finned aluminum. Years later I checked for the Cal Custom part number cast inside.

I still have them and they are on the 390 in my '53 F-100.

One peeling Cragar SS. I bought it from the salvage yard.Couldnt afford a set of wheels but wanted Cragars in the worst way.Was glad to get anything.

 

Most of you guys wont know what I'm talking about, but it was a ''Speco'' twin carb manifold for a grey motor. Aussies will know!!!

 

Rebuilt th350 with a shift kit, then a steel crank forged piston 501 lift cam 350. Didn't mess around with the small stuff

 

Gee, I can't remember that far back, old Ford Customline rear ends with 4.11:1 gears because they were giveaways, all I had to do was remove them from the cars.

 

Olds J-2 intake and carbs someone gave me, I sold it to a dude for the carbs so he could run them on his Chevy.

 

Mine was an Edelbrock Torker intake, Holley Carb and a set of Hedman headers for my 57 Belair when I was 17. Up until then....no money for extras....it was all going to replacement parts to get it running and roadworthy. Unless you count the 57 Corvette 283 I bought for $150 to replace the 235 straight six when I was 15.

A speeding ticket that cost me my license for 30 days. That gave me time to put a better set of heads on my Chevy small block.

 

Fenton shifter for my 55' Chev, followed by chrome wheels in 64' .

 

Well, ill have to say the intake an holley 94 carb for the Banger

 

In the cold winter of '69, I laid out $36.47 for a NEW Holley 500 c.f.m. 2 barrel carburetor, model 4412. They had just come out a few months earlier. That was over 2 weeks pay at my after-school job!! My '57 Courier sedan delivery never ran so freekin' good, and of course the old Ford-O-Matic suffered accordingly!! I still have that carb, only new one I ever bought!

Funny I did a Google search for Rajah clips and my picture came up. They were the first performance parts that I bought as an 18 YO kid for my 58 Plymouth so my 352 Ford got period correct plug wires. I had to learn how to walk before I could run. Packard 440 wire and Rajah clips have a special place in my heart.
