Always wondered which car was considered as being the "King of Customs". I'm sure everyone can agree between a hand full of cars. You've got your beautiful Mercs, slick Fords and Chevys, Dodges and Caddys of course. I wasn't born during Barris's era, so dont be afraid to go back in time. It will be hard to choose, but try to limit it to only 1 to 3 cars.

Pretty easy I would say 49-51 merc, just like king of hot rods is the 32 ford, my question was always what car was the MOST customized? I was kinda thinking the shoebox ford? Jim

Mercs are the most common, you've got that right. Just wanted some opinions on customs.

'49-'51 Merc's. There's almost too many of them. Luckily, no two are exactly alike.

35>46 Fords, and 39>40 Mercs. 49>51 Mercs are cool but they are played out.

Dave Stuckey's original creation of his 1951 Mercury completed just in time to be crowned King of the Mercs at the second Merc/Deuce reunion in Wichita, KS in 1984. Check out the car and build on Carnut.com

  13. it's a matter of opinion, of course. i think most people would agree on the 49-51 mercury. kinda like asking everyone whats your favorite color.

Uh FAIL smartass. I put 36 ford in my list, as well as 39 40 Mercs. I said 49~51 Mercs are played. Either learn to read or go pick a fight at the playground kid cuz your about to get schooled by the "grownups".

I'd say its 49-51 Mercs, but I am biased. I'd have to disagree that they are played out. A nicely done 49-51 Merc will pretty much stop anybody in their tracks.... hot rod guys, kustom guys, muscle car guys, ricer guys, jeep guys, women.. children....

I would very easily put any year 2 door Zephyr in the running as well.
