Yes I was told Gene Winfield did the chop on it. Thank you for all the compliments, will have new pictures up ASAP
Pops and I went over to help Jay on the chop a little, roughly about five hours of planning the future of the cars body mods and about an hour of work, thats about normal right? Just to feel everyone in on this car, the plan is to take her down to Roundup in April for my wife and I's 10 year anniversary.
To me the perfect chop is one that you say " Is that chopped?" You have a car like that IMO. It looks great!
Thank you for that great compliment, a friend of ours today said numerous times that less is more and I feel that is our goal.
If your not careful , your going to make a nice looking car out of this . The roof that ma Mopar put on this car was ugly , period . Your turning it into a real looker with just the chop , congats and keep up the good work .
Looks good, I almost picked up one of these, and thats all I was going to do, not a huge chop, just give it better lines. Looks real clean!
Well had a slight set back today, had a 318 poly being built for the car but for some reason the builder has decided to keep the engine. I feel this might be a blessing in disguise, after revisiting some of my older engine post the poly might cause more problems than it is worth. Going to do a little more research tomorrow on the 318s out of the a bodies.
Thank you sir, soon we will get her on the road and start enjoying her. Love that back shot of yours, really smooth
If you're not ready to install a R&P then the Poly exhaust might be an issue but not insurmountable. What other possible issues have you found? If you do go the LA route the 360 has alot more grunt than the 318 and the A-body exhaust manifold clears the column. .
Havent found a 360, have found a 340 but not sure what it is out of and it was rebuilt 3-4 years ago from what I have been told. Found a 318 rebuilt and ready to go today from a 68-84 LA and it is fresh. We are not looking for a lot of power, just a nice cruiser for my wife and kiddo to have fun in. Having a 2 month timeframe just trying to find a solution that will get us a long or short block so we can start mocking up the frame and hunting down a transmission for it.
I really dig these cars. Great grille and cool lines, I let a 53 slip thru my hands years ago and have regretted it since. Best-o-luck with the build. ~sololobo~
It's pretty neat to see a Plymouth being chopped. Especially in the dfw area. I have a stock plymouth 54 near Denton I hope to chop one day.
very cool project, PM me I'll send you some pictures of what I did with a 2 dr 54 Belvedere very cool car to modify!
Today we picked up the new 318, it is a la block from a 68-84 car. Sean over at Blaines in Dallals helped get the long block to us after we had a delay last week with the Poly we originally ordered. Ran by Bishop in Dallas and tracked down the exhaust manifolds, should know next week once we get the mounts in. Anyone see any issues with this flowing around the steering column?
