Any way to fix/ clear up the fogging around the edges of windshields? I'm looking at a car and the glass if pretty bad. What causes this? Sun damage to Some kinda sealer between the 2 pelieces of glass?

Not much in the way of fixing it other than new glass .

It's the saftey film, what ever they call it, between the glass panes.

  5. Nope but it can be replaced.

good part is that it is flat glass and should not be too expensive to replace.

Once it's fogged, there's no going back. But as mentioned, you can have new ones cut at any glass place and relatively cheap, I bet you could have new glass for $100 plus the cost of the gasket for that car.

  8. Just take your old glass pieces to a reputable glass shop......and they
should be able to copy them at a fairly reasonable price. And when you
buy a new rubber seal, I would suggest Steele Rubber Products. They are
not cheap, but make the best quality seal (in my opinion). I just did
that for my Plymouth. You can get either clear or tinted glass.

  9. Glass is like paint cheap is not in the same sentence.

  10. Sure it is. Flat glass is very cheap. I have a similar car. $150 for glass both sides and about $140 for all new rubber.

Flat glass is dirt cheap! Go get new safety glass.

if glass shop uses your old glass for pattern make sure that the finished glass is exactly the size of original. if it is even slightly oversize it is possible that it will crack when body has any movement. happened to me with a '41 Chevy sedan. all fine till I jacked up rear of car. both front sections cracked. shop refused to redo glass.
