my mechanical fuel pump on my 63 country sedan 289 stopped pumping but only at tickover for some reason, i am gonig to change it to a electric pump as im also now converting to lpg . does anyone know what pressure pump i need ? the engine is a stock 289 with 65,000 miles on cllock and is 100% original thanks in anticipation
A good 6 psi pump at the tank should give you a good 4-5 psi at the needle and seat, that's all you should need for the old stocker.
The needle and seat will start to open usualy anything above 8 to 9 psi . If your going to an electric look into useing a fuel pump regulator all depends on your GPH http://www.magnumforceracing.com/store4/magnaflow/magnaflow_fuel_system_technical_notes.htm
