8 point screw head - what is it?

    Well....it would be nice to maintain their use so the idea of damaging them to get them out is not that attractive. I was hoping a $5 socket might solve a lot of issues.


    Even at that, several of the screws are located close enough the the casting that they won't allow too much in the way of hammering, cutting, torching or other such methods.

    yes 8 point socket should get it out. ive run across a few of those here lately on some older stuff we were workin on.ive got a really old 8 point set made by proto and i mean old.
