Just looked inside my new to me 38 flathead. Cylindet walls look brand new as do the pistons . My question is what is written on top of all the pistons. There is STD stamped in each one then a number (im assuming std stands for standard and the number is for the cylinder. Then in sharpie the builder wrote STD and OIT...what is OIT?
01T is actually a Ford code for a light, 1940 (first year produced) "truck" part. So, it could be 1940 pistons, "standard" sized (same as your '38 bore), meant for a light pick-up engine application...ORIGINALLY. DD
