    Hey guys,

Has anyone used a '65 Mustang radiator that's $140 in a model A grill shell? I have a buddy building a '42 that's using a '36 truck grill shell with this radiator that fits pretty well. Better than buying the $800 one!

Just curious if anyone has the dimensions on the '30-'31 Model A shell before I buy the radiator.

    Thanks

They don't really fit that well. It will look like you cut corners.

I have used the early Mustang type radiator in both the model "A" (chopped shell...) and the "T" shells quite easily... That's what I have in my "T's" Track nose... Just be sure to buy enough radiator to do the cooling job at hand... Several core thicknesses are out there ...

Fits in my 30-31 she'll ok, not the greatest look, but like you said it beats 800 dollars, cools a small block just fine...

it fit in my Chevy grill , had to bend the sheet metal flanges on the radiator near the bottom to clear

Just a mock up in the picture, actually radiator sits lower in shell

Thank you Mink! That picture saved time and guessing on this sort of thing! That doesn't look that bad. I bet with an expanded metal grille blacked out it could be doable.

Look at the $200 aluminum ones on eGay.. Have one in my coupe and works great.. Will fit a 30/31 shell nicely.. At $200 if it lasts a few years I'll be happy...

Biggest beef is the shape of the upper tank...if that's not addressed, it'll look like one of those Model A clones where they just dropped a 'glass 'A' over a Pinto pan!

  9. This is a 66 rad in a 28-29 shell. Had to mesh it to hide it, but it works excellent.

There are plenty of aluminum model A style radiators available for around $150, so why use the mustang radiator?
