This is question for you 4 banger guys. What year Chevy 490 head is the best for to use on a Model A engine? I have a chance to buy one off a 1922 Chevy 490 engine.

  2. First look at the size of the ports on a Chevy head. Might be neat and period correct but it would be low on my list of desireable heads.

  3. The '28 head is the popular head to put on a T/A- it's got dual intake/dual exhaust. '23 Olds 3 port heads are better, but VERY hard to find.

The '22 head you are looking at has one exhaust and pretty restrictive/not worth the effort.
