No restorer here, but I'd check some Dodge archives and see how many Hemi Dodge convertibles there were that year...

(I bought another Porsche in 1974, it was a 1952 split windshield pre-'A' convert; it was the 6th of 35 made, and was rust free) Just sayin'...

That is an exceptionally scarce car! I have a hardtop version, which is also not commonly found. It's your car, but I would encourage you think awhile before deciding how you are going to proceed.

In any case, congratulations on a rare find and at a mind boggling low price!

That car looks like a restoration candidate. If you're not into restos then you could likely flip it and pocket some cash.

I agree Ray. That's a very rare car and would be worth a restore. Bet you could sell it or trade it and come out waaaay ahead. Your car though.

Just to pile on......that is most likely a very rare convertible. I still have flashbacks to 1964 when we took a perfectly decent 1953 Dodge 2dr. hardtop.....yellow bottom....black top.....241 hemi with a 4bbl. and 3spd tranny......and we turned it into a dirt track stock car......and took it to the scrap yard after a very successful summer......to get $25 to buy a 1955 Chev for the next season

It;s a two barrel as many have already pointed out. But don't forget it is a 241 cubic inch engine. many larger engines (270 GMC and 250 Chevy come to mind) run just fine with a single barrel carburetor.

    Congratulations on your find.

According to the Standard Catalog of 1950s Chrylser there were 2,000 Royal converts and only 50 Coronet converts built in 1954. 701 of the Royals were Indianapolis 500 pace car replicas, available in yellow only. Your car is rarer than my 53 Coronet convert, of which they made 4,100. But the survival rate of the 54 seems to be higher than the 53s, likely because of the pace car editions.

I belong to the Walter P Chrysler Club which has probably 4,000 members with over 10,000 cars in the roster. At last count there were about eight 54s listed, while mine is the only 53. In the three years I've owned the car and have been looking, I've found only seven other 53's, either complete or as parts cars.

Either way, you have a very rare car and I hope you enjoy it and take good care of it.

There's a yellow ragtop in a town near me, 241 and all. The old dude won't sell it though.
