My Godfather just bought some bullet tips from Mooneyes for his sombreros to put on his 50 chevy. He said it came with a screw and a plate to fit the bullet on, but it's not clearing the dustcap..anyone delt with this. Any ideas other than taking a hammer to the dustcap for extra clearance?

You can make a new plate out of some 1/2 inch X 1/8inch flat stock bent in a hat shape so that the edges grab the cap but the center section is offset closer to the bullet.
