Well, I said no more but couldn't resist--40 std coupe, all CE suspension-woodgrained moldings (40 dlx though)--has a good 350, 350 trans and 9"--body very decent--will take apart in a month or two and get started--may go with a Ford maroon this time but still undecided--have to ditch the louvered hood too---may make it a deluxe as I have a hood, grille, dah, instruments,etc---time will tell-don't care for the std grille chromed and it is new

Man that looks like a worthwhile project. The maroon color would be great.

Nice car! Maroon would be my first choice for any 40 Ford.

When it comes time to redo my coupe, it will be solid maroon with a light tan interior and matching steelies this time! I'd keep it a standard, and just run painted grill sides and the original painted headlamp doors!!

thinking maroon with tan leather (same color leather as my current coupe)--undecided on whether to make it a dlx or std--have pts to do both--6th coupe since 03--never done one maroon only cloud mist grey(2), folkstone grey, dark blue and Harley Davidson cream and black--wife and I will decide color and her and interior guy will pick int color and style--they have collaborated on int in 7 40's thus far

  12. I'll be watching with great interest as another of your fantastic builds goes together.

  13. Love the '40 standards, and '39 deluxes..the grille is what does it for me.
    Looking forward to your progress.

  14. Nice buy. I like the Deluxe better also.

A 40 Ford in Maroon with a light tan interior? Never heard of that combo!!! It's funny how that color just seems to work. Although I have a Deluxe (see photo), I think I like the look of a standard. I guess we always want what we don't have....

Cool project, best of luck with it!!

Nice!! Solid 40's are getting harder and harder to find!

  19. Too bad the louverd hood is for a standard or you could "ditch it" in my direction!!:)

Only color better than Maroon on a '40 is black and if it's black there had better be a bunch of flames up front.:cool::D

Congrats on your 40. If it was me, I'd drive it just as it is. But that's just me.

  23. Standards are getting rarer and hard to find, I like to put a twist on my cars and do something guys like to squack about,, for example my 40 is deluxe and I,m gona put standard headlamp covers on it when i paint it....I would say paint it any color that makes ya happy...my car was originally mederia moroon.....gump

Just finished a black 40 std sedan for a friend--kinda like the std front end painted as stock--did a folkstone coupe last year for the same friend and like that color too-have done 4 in cloud mist grey and my current coupe is that color so I won't be painting it any of these colors--maybe 34 Ford coach maroon ????

  28. Great example to start with.......One more vote for the o.e.m. Maroon, tan interior, louvered hood and Standard grille. (loved the Deluxe front end only for 50 years, but lately, the curves of the Std. grille are looking fine, especially your nice example....is it repro?)

Any oem Maroon looks great in my book. Is the '34 color slightly darker than '40?

And one more thing; never say never!
