Carl, what blower pieces are you looking for?

  2. Actually Buddy I'm gonna make my own snout as it will have to mate to the location on my manifold, but I am looking for a set of pulleys and a belt, I have the crank snout and will machine the upper when I make the drive assy. Also a rear cover is needed. I might make my own or whatever. still trying to figure it all out, but I have more time than money, or so the saying goes........

Looks like someone is having to much fun! Great thread Carl.

  5. My cousin Cecil Farrington who tractor pulls rigged up a homebrew blower on his big tractor. Compressed air! poor Cecil. he didnt know it wont work. (Man does it ever work too.! I had never heard a 6V71 GMC diesel at 6000RPM before. He replaced the turbo with the compressed air because of a rule allowing only one supercharger.) He has been riding me to try it on my slant six rail. So far I have resisted. Did the math though. Not really a great volume of air in a 1/4 mile pass. I think it was 67 cubic feet or something worst case senrio.
Anyway. Blower. go for it. GMC? Scott? Magnusen? Eaton M90 or what?

What pulleys do you need? I have some extra belts also. I'll check on the rear cover when I get home this weekend. I also have an upper crank snout, I believe.

You're welcome to whatever I have that you can use.

  7. Buddy I'm looking for something that will put me in the 20% range or there abouts or anything that will give me a start like a 46x55........

    Pretty sure I can do a 59/48. I know I have an extra 53, and possibly a 61.

    I'll let you know

  10. Don.. 4-71 is what I have, and love those tractor guys and their home brewed thinking. Crewed on a buddy,s Allison in the early eighty's and what a rush it was all home made parts, made my day.

    Buddy that sounds kool.............

I like your stories....pictures are worth more than thousands of words!
Are you documenting results as you go? Would be cool to see results somehow "graphed" or displayed on one page.
    Looking forward to future posts.
