Here are pics of DASBOOT. She rolled out of the NJ Ford plant in June of 1960 and my uncle bought her shortly thereafter in the Bronx. He put her in the garage in 1969 and locked the door. She sat there for 26 years until my aunt asked me if I'd be interested in it. She also told me I'd better come for it because....you'll just LOVE this part!........my father was going to call the junkyard to come haul it away!!! Can you imagine that?!?!?!? To my father it was just some crappy old car!! Anyway, DASBOOT and I have been together 18yrs this past July and my 7 yr old son is infatuated with her. He can rattle off "1960 Ford Falcon stationwagon with a 144 cubic inch motor and 3 on the tree" like a pro! Anyway, here she is. All original except for the skirts. Got those from JC Whitney. 43,764 miles.
Thanks for sharing the pics.Gotta love those all original beauties. You have a rolling time machine there.Nice job saving it from the junk man.
Enjoy. They are fun cars. I had a 61 4 door wagon. It had a 170 and 3 on the tree. You could pile up your buddies in it, just couldn't go much faster than 60. Felt wound out.
Love the trim fabric! My girlfiend and I have a '62 wagon, but fat chance in AZ that you would ever see an original piece of fabric in a car. I wonder if somebody repops that ?
Thanks for all the nice words! The classic tale of the old car hidden away in a garage. And there are plenty more out there somewhere. Now if I could just come across an old Harley, Indian, Stratocaster or Tele!!!
I believe that fabric pattern was discontinued in July or a bit later in 1960. It remained 2 tone but without all the western graphics.
When I was a kid we had a 55 Ranchwagon with that pattern on the seats. I remember it well as my little brother branded them with the cig lighter & I got the blame for not watching him close enough. Just another avenue to check out.
Congratulations on inheriting the Falcon wagon and keeping it from the scrap yard. She's definitely a beauty.
Very cool! Im glad u dont have the same taste as your dad. I have my sites on a 61 falcon wagon survivor. White w/ blue interior... 170 3 on the tree. Im not much for blue ovals, but i really dig these cars... Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Yes! Took the name from the movie. It means "The Boat" in German and I figured this car would definitelyclassify as one seeing as how we used to call big old cars "boats" back in the day.
Very groovy wagon. I can imagine Beaver Cleaver looking out the back window on his way to school. (cannot do that now with seatbelt laws).
If it's all original, amazing what a bath and a coat of wax can do. My father had one of those. Was a great little car. Enjoy it.
Blue ovals. just a nickname for Ford... cuz of the emblem. Blue ovals and 'bowties' (chevy's). Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
