Parts Help please,,,,

  1. 1968 Galaxie 500 convertable...I need a bunch of stuff but as of right now I am without my daily driver because I am in need of a Drivers side door latch..I have been searching the intrenet all afternoon with no luck...help a brother out..oh and local junk yards have just been laughing at me....sad day indeed when you call and they say that a 68 is WAY to old to find in a salvage Yard,,,,

    I might be able to get you one off of a 65 galaxy. Find out if it will fit.

    Knowing Ford anything of any similar age ford is probably the same, find an old time wreckers or Ford specialist there must be one nearish ??

    If he doesn't have any give Matt at trust salvage in Auburn a call. He has tons of old iron out there.

    Not sure of all you're looking for,but check out www.macsautoparts.com. They have an entire catalog of 1960-72 full sized Ford and Mercury parts and will send you a paper catalog for free.

    CGkidd is right check Trust Salvage.It's heaven on Earth.It's appointment only during the week.And It's open to the public on Saturdays.But even If he doesn't have it.You need to go there.
     
  10. well guys thanks for the help...here is the skinny....the latch is a one year only gig and one car only...If I had known that this car is so hard to buy parts for...I still would have bought her..I have had this car for around 10 years and have had more topless fun then ever..I even drop the top in winter and just bundle up...I tried everybody and the only 2 places that have anything are in Texas and Arizona....so I bucked up and paid the extra shipping...they shopuld be here on Thursday or Friday...

    Sometimes you can swap 2 dr latch parts like the spring and other pieces from 4 door latches. You might have to grind a rivet off and reweld it but I've done it on hard to find latches before. Usually the same side latch has the same direction spring and other parts but the housing is longer or a different shape from a 4 door - front or rear. This might work from other years that are close.
