This seems like a good time to talk about the chop again. I just did my film from that weekend, here are a few shots... I dig the steering setup. I can't wait to see the hoop when you get it done.
I like the looks of the front-end with the '32 grille. Car sits real low, especially with the axle you're using. Looks like a straight axle.
Thanks everyone for checking out the thread and special thanks to lowtruck for posting some unseen photos. Its hard to imagine how tall it was now looking back!
Looking great! I love the hard chop and the steering set up is a neat solution. Keep the progress pics coming. Neal
Thanks TS! Unfortunately I can't take credit for the idea....that has to go to Mr. Vern Tardel. It's super slick though, just ended up using a cleaned up and recontoured piece of 1 x 2 angle iron and a few nuts and bolts.
So I was able to take an extra day off work this weekend and get back to the car and pick up where I left off. After a few days the steering is in and as I look at the photos, I'm not sure how it all worked out the way it did. This was one of those deals where I think luck was on my side regarding how close the clearances all ended up being. In the end I'm pretty happy with the way it all came out. Currently the steering rack is still in mock up phase as I ran out of time to finish weld it. I'll do that and clean it all up over the next few weeks. The icing on the cake though was being able to have my grandfather help out on the whole thing, run the torch , and help me bend up my headlight mounts. They also need some polishing and some extensions but the torching is done..... Steering Box// Steering Rack: Headlight Process: I'll add photos of the finished mounts soon... I do need some help with the clutch pedal. I need to come up with a way to shorten it or do something to allow it to clear the bottom of the steering box. The brake pedal is perfect and clears nicely. The clutch is a little over an inch too tall. I figured I would get the box in at a comfortable working level then work out the pedals later. Any suggestions???
Either you have a shit ton of natural talent or you are holding out on us. This work is amazing, especially the body work. Nice job!
That car is so spot-on! Now it just needs some spider-web stickers, plastic rats, and a human skeleton for the back seat!
Thanks N312RB, I know its not up to the caliber of some a lot of builders on here, but I'm trying. Its coming out pretty well for not having a garage or shop to work in at least...
Lupus I think I'd cut the top off of the pedal leaving enough to heat and bend a tab that you would then drill a hole in to bolt the pad on. Seems like the easiest way to do it with out changing really anything but were your foot lands.
