I am working on a friends '56 ford. It was originally a 6 car and the 302 we are using is out of an 80's mustang. I found that by swapping the 302's motor mounts left for right and slotting the holes on the car's crossmember the motor drops right in. We are using a T-5 tranny and the stock crossmember only needed minor hacking as well
