A guys selling these for 400 are they the right one everybody uses he said their off a 56 caddy thanks
Ill take 200 for my set. i dont think those are the ones everyone wants, you need a deep wheel for them.
They are indeed '56 caddy. The caddy caps seen most often are '57. but the-rodster is correct. They are all good it just depends on what look your after.
Looks like the right year. I've got a couple that would go good on a daily driver, way cheaper than that. http://www.hubcaps.org/deville.html
Sorry, but those are NOT the 57 Caddy caps everyone uses....they are later (not sure the year) and will not fit anything but a Caddy as they are way to deep..! They're not worth anything except to the correct year Cadillac owner. Don't even conseder them.
Those are 56 Cad caps, but don't use those, they're almost impossible to make a wheel that fit them and your car unless you have tons of fender clearance
Those are 56 Caddy, and yes you need a deep dish wheel for them to work. I've got a set if you need them. $400.00 seems too high for those.
I'm going to have to reconsider my first reply. They do look like 56 Caddys and not later model as I erroneously stated. Still, they are not desireable and "the-rodster" is incorrect (sorry rodster) as the 55-56 caps are NOT what people are putting on their cars because they are so deep. What most people use are the 57 caps, as for some reason, they are shallow, and the pre 55 caps known as "Sombreros" for older customs. Hopes this saves you some money and heart ache.
OK SO ITS 57 CAPs EVERYBODY USES THANKS GLAD I DIDNT BUY THEM if anybody has a show qualty set p/i me thanks again guys
Those are cool. But wasn't it about taking caps that were not cool and making them... kool? Ugh where is the official hamb hubcap thread!?
I just want start with the right ones the first photo turns out 56 high ones again r the second photo 57 the right ones to start with thanks
The 2nd photos are apost to be 1957 ones ,the ones most use if am wrong plesae let me know befor i buy them thanks
Here's some that are close? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=378994&highlight=hubcap+thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6990206#post6990206
I don't know what wheel your using but remember deep dish caddy caps require a off set wheel. Thanks DamagedDuck
I've been carrying a pair of them around for about five years for $50 for both. I've had one nut try to buy just one about three times, he thinks I don't remember him but I do. Now if you need one, why not buy a spare in case you lose another?
In your 1st question/post you showed the deep Caddy caps,& we mentioned your gonna need deep rims here why....(i forgot i had these)$400 for caps that aren't new way too much! just my 2¢ ...
EXACTLY!!! They only work on the wheels they came on and even then are a royal pain in the ass to get on right. You have to use special wheel weights and hope that everything works right. 400 sounds way too high unless they are absolutely perfect NOS in the factory boxes and you need them for a 100 point restoration. Real 57 caps will fit on most wheels and that is what most guys run that don't run sombreros as far as caddy wheels go. When I put the 57 caps on my 51 Merc I hunted them down one at a time at swap meets and picked them up for quite a bit less than the asking price for a set but these days you probably would be right behind the guy buying them up to put them in sets and triple the price.
I've been told that the Cragar square "D" style wheels will allow for the 56 Caddy caps to fit, but I've never tested that theory. Square D's are pretty cheap and can be bought new for almost any application. Just a thought. $400 is way to much in my opinion. I have a set that can't sell even at $50! Make great wall art though!
I looked on eBay after I posted out of curiousity and you could buy a complete set there for $80. The $400 seller probably doesn't know what he has.
