At a swap meet today, I found a battered but complete Wayne Engines and Engine Equipment Catalog for 1952 - 28 pages of photo history and product info.

For example, in 1952 the Wayne 12-port head listed for $350. That's equal to $3,025.90 in today's funny money. No wonder they didn't sell many.

First HAMBer who actually owns a Wayne gets it, gratis.

Hell, I've got McGurks little book on GMCs right here on hand. Had a 270 in a '50 Chev.

Yes I will be damned over this setup.

The valve cover is a 12 port cover - narrower than a 7 port. Note the alignment of the bolt holes and the word "wayne". 7 port covers are not parallel

It arrived in the country two weeks ago, and I am yet to pick it up from the guy who brought it in for me.

    A 270 would be a bitchin way to power a '50.

    Loads of torque

Ive got a lot of machining work to do to get it up to this level.

I recently bought the rockers required for it.

There are many of the 12 ports for the GMC blocks still around. They were an answer to correcting a lot of limitations placed on these engines by the stock head. There were Chevy inline Stovbolt versions of this head too. Now they are becoming hard to find. Another Performance Shop (Skinner) in Fontana did another version for the 230-250-292 Chevy inlines. That one really makes those engines top notch performers. None are cheap if they are in good condition. Now the OHV six version (4200) is showing its potential. Glen Self from Durant, OK has really developed a very competitive racing engine in his shop.

That's a great scan, BCR. Thanks for sharing.

HAMB'er jeffs sledz has been looking for a head gasket for his Wayne/Chevy. Can anyone here point him in the right direction? He's not online often. (I suggested a gasket manufacturer.)
