Dan, do you know anything about this Buick wagon...??? An identical wagon was built by Argood's shop here in Denver some years ago, used a '58 Impala windshield and the rear doors were welded shut to make the two door...at the time it was painted red and black...and I think the give-away that this is Argood's Buick is the portholes have been moved below the trim on the front fenders...

Just curious cuz I really don't believe Buick made a two door wagon...

The two door part is definitely custom and they for sure didn't make a 2 door version. Unfortunately the owner was not nearby and so I don't know much more about it other than I really like it and wished I owned it. Maybe someone else will know.

Got this info from another site.....

Friend of Kevin Evans bought it at Barrett-Jackson couple years ago, came from Colorado.
He got all the info from the owner. Channeled over a caprice or impala frame with a 455 buick. LOTS of body mods, really kool car. He just sold it to the new owner from great bend

As I figured...did not know it went thru BJ tho... Nelson Argood had several really nice cars, including a very nice red and blak '57 Buick two door hardtop that is still around Denver...he also had a nice '49/'50 Merc two door, altho I don't know where that one went.

FWIW, Nelson's wife died some years ago...after that , he hooked up with a HS gf...they got married and Nelson immediately set out to please her - she didn't like competing with Nelson's cars...so he sold everything he had and got out of cars altogether. Such is life and love...!!!

What a kool pic Dan, this was a kustom at the show that had all of the vintage
kustom touches , like the very tasteful Desoto grill treatrment to the roll and pleat
half top. Very Kool!! I was wanting to talk to the guy about his car but never got
    the chance.

Does anyone know more about this cars history? When was it built?

    Happy Trails, Mick

Thanks Mick. It was pretty hard to photograph where it was. I was hoping to meet the owner too. I have a pretty good rear quarter shot of it coming up.

  14. Dan, I was hoping you went to the show and have been waiting for your pictures. You have a great talent and I always love looking at the pics you do.

    Dan,

Great pics, I remember parking and you walked up and handed me a card, I was busy unloading the car and put your card in my pocket. After you snapped some pics of My 50 merc and walked away I took a look at your card. I did not realize it was you snapping pics as I have always loved your photos. Wish I would have known. I tried telling all of my buddies who you were but they are not HAMBERS. I do appreciate briefly meeting you even though it was short.

I'm not real crazy about Mercurys but this picture is just off the Kool scale.
You really captured how kool this Merc was. It was the Merc that everyone
Was talking about and wanted to drive home. Thanks for posting the picture.

And now the back view of that 55 Ford Crown Victoria

This is actually a little dark compared to the right version which you can view on my website. http://www.pbase.com/dlgphoto/image/145287839. For some reason, even though these are linked directly to it, the better version refuses to show up here.

Great shots of some great cars! Some belong on the "Classy Customs" thread.
The lower pan on that beautiful black Merc is a nice touch!

I don't know why, but the chop on this Poncho reminds me of the Dan Landon Chevy.

The Pontiac was a kool surprise. Last year he was running big billets and black wall
tires. It looks like KKOA converted him to White Walls. It made a huge difference and
    the coupe really pops now.

Thanks Mo, Mick and farmer12. Very much appreciated. Here is a shot of all the hall of famers' signatures under the hood of Don Wallin's 1949 Merc.
