I do not text.i know how, i just had rather talk to someone face to face or at least over a phone.i have a cell phone but i only use it when its needed.like when my car breaks down.i will wait till i get home to talk to you on our land line.im having a hard time now just reading the news because they are starting to use some letter abbreviations that i have no idea what they mean.i am guily of using all lower case, as you can see.but i forget the caps lock button alot and i have to go back and re write what i just wrote so i save myself some trouble and just dont use them.my typing does not reflect my writing. when using pen and paper(remember those two)i do it correctly.

There is a time and a place for everything. When conversing with strangers, it is good policy to use the most professional, clear, and matter-of-fact language you have access to. It can set the tone for all future interactions.

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
    Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of US (1809 - 1865)

The same holds true for typing.

That said, I like rods and kustoms. Can we go back to talking about those now, please.

When I'm in a real hurry or when I'm merging into heavy traffic, sometimes my punctuation suffers. My Mother's texts are always beautifully constructed, but she hardly ever texts while driving because she is ninety-four years old and her eyesight isn't so good.

I agree with the above. For the record: Prolly is IM short hand for "probably". This one is valid, and gets used very often- especially in IT circles.

Walla is what a moron says instead of "Voila".

My texts, posts, emails, etc., always contain correct punctuation, spelling and grammar - which means I'll screw this post up :)

Anyway, my point is, when my wife received a text from me recently that had a misspelled word, she called me up to be sure that I wasn't haven't some variety of episode.

Personally I hate phones and texting. I would rather speak to the person. I get a few of those emails and I know exactly what you are saying.

Texting has created a whole generation of bent over people. No matter where I go any more I see these people hunched over, staring down at a cell phone, and texting to God knows who. We were in a Subway the other day having lunch and a girl at a table by us was bent over texting the whole time we were in there eating. You see the same thing no matter where you go.

Maybe I am antisocial, but I really don't have that much to say that I have to be in constant contact with someone else.

Even know this has not a thing to do with traditional Hot Rods it is something that is a very strong 'pet' hate of mine (Though I can't say I am perfect in literacy!). This is going to sound strange but I love the English language, I am a voluminous reader and I also write a lot (I guess I'm, a nerd at heart.).

This text language thing is simply intolerable, I wouldn't call it the beginnings of society's decline, just a major step in it. I want to know how in the hell it became cool to be illiterate? just where and how did it become the 'in' thing not to be able to adequately communicate? I understand that some people are, through no fault of their own, literate from forms of illness to poor education there are many reasons.

Though when the means to an education are/were there and they through choice became 'dumb asses' I have no sympathy or tolerance. The English language is not a difficult thing to comprehend.

Having worked in the Medical world both in the Military and civilly it has taken me to many country's and medical facility's and I have worked with people that have many different afflictions. One thing I will say though, people who have literacy difficulties through no fault of their own at least TRY to do their best. These people who are text language aficionados are lazy and 'dumb'.

    Doc.
