Picked up my T a couple hours ago and after a test drive... all systems awesome! I had a look at my old 305sbc and was surprised at what my mechanic found. Besides the bad mains, the heads were for a 350. The timing chain was on the way out and the oil pump was the same. The spark plugs looked like shit.

So, he had an '86 350 that he had built for someone who never paid him. All it needed was an intake, cam and lifters. So, I had him pick out a Holley Street Dominator intake, mild street cam and lifters and all is well.

He also rebuilt my carb. I've got great throttle response and she purrs like a kitten. I went with a 160 thermostat and I was driving in the Houston heat at 180.

Man.... it feels sooo good to have my Ride back. Hell, it's almost like the HAMB being shut down.

  8. Now comes wider tires to get all of the power to the pavement and then different gears in the rear to take advantage of the extra torque and then maybe a little bigger exhaust so it can breath better and then .....................

That was a fast turnaround. With all that new found power, did you check the brakes? Which way are you going on the gearing. Fuel economy or performance? An overdrive trans would be really nice.

Any way, you have it for the summer, enjoy.

Folks, it's going to be a while for pics. I don't have a camera right now and my budget is tapped! I'm going to a picnic Sunday, I'll see if someone can get some pics for me.

Glad your back on the road Fred. That's a nice car you have, haven't seen it for a while since the Houston Hamb meets dried up.

Maybe...we should put together another meet. Just one. For old times sake. Get the band back together maybe.

After I get the 29 back together of course.

Mr. T Bucket is a member on the tbucketeers website and he sent me a camera to take pics. So, here ya go.

350sbc. The intake is a Holley "Contender". I did some research and it's a repo of the one used on early Z-28's.

I use the "classic" headers, but I'm hoping to get a set of lake headers this Christmas. We'll see. The rear tires are fairly new and are 235-75R-15. A nice tread pattern and a good height. I did my own interior in red vinyl. A simple bench with compartments underneath for fuse box, battery and a small tool set. If you look closely, you can see a copy of "The Little Pages" tucked bythe floor mat. I always roll with it. The steering wheel is a vintage Superior 500 with a red metal flake grip.

I got a chrome alternator not long ago and mounted up top. It looks close to the headers in the pic, but it's got about 1" clearance and so far, no troubles from the header heat. The radiator is from Speedway motors. I got the buffed finish due to cost and I like the look. Although a chrome shell is on my wish list.

Long time members may notice that I no longer have the pin-up on the cowl. I switched her out a few times and tend to change my mind often. She's sporting the Mr. Horsepower logo for now. That's a perk of not having a paint job on her. The current finish is the gelcoat. It still looks good with only a few minor scratches. One day, she'll get painted black.

It's from Speedway motors. Cools great, too. They offer them polished, but the wait was 2 weeks and I needed it right away at the time.

It looks so right in white with red accents.

Have any idea what mileage is?

    Happy cruising. :)
