My father recently just picked up a 58 Buick and has started tearing into it. One problem is a broken front drum.

Does anyone know if there are any plain steel drums that will fit this car? The finned aluminum drums are big bucks and steels would probably be more affordable and stronger.

Haha, I just mentioned on another thread that the guys who are fixing up those older Buicks probably wonder why the price of these 45 finners have gotten so pricey. We hot rodders have taken all your inventory. :D

    Hope you find an answer.

Related question, are the early 45 fin drums and the later 90 fin interchangeable?

These were considered to be the ultimate brakes for your hot rod and now they are being manufactured again. you can order them plain or polished as shown. These are made of lightweight aluminum, cast iron liner, large 14" ford backing plates with 11" X 2-1/4" brake shoes. All brake parts are by Bosch for Ford 2006 production. No "Prehistoric Parts". Drums only fit a big bearing late and early. The big bearing early may require minor housing modifications.

I have no idea how this will post. Mods....kill it if it looks goofy. Is this the real deal? not much publicity on them.....slide

That ad for the brand new ones says 11" and Buicks are 12". I'm not 100% sure but i believe you could run the cast iron drum from the rear on the front in you absolutley can't find aluminum ones. (Also I think that is what Kanter is selling, is the cast iron drum.)
