    lookin' good... :D

    -------------

my new link to my new site for my old '65 C10 Chevy truck:

Matraca - my 1965 Chevrolet C10 long wheel base step side pickup

Most of the photos currently on the site are from 2003-2009. The majority are from 2006-2009, as I got my first point and shoot digital camera in early 2006. A digital camera is a very handy tool for working on old trucks! It allows you to take pics and ask questions about how to fix things or 'what is this part called, etc.?'

I have some more photos from 2009-current that I am sorting through, resizing and all around curating to decide where they go, etc..

This list is sort of chronological, as I went through the site looking for the highlights as I wrote it.

    Current photos:

    • brake shots, inside the drums
    • stock type, reproduction battery hold down
    • long step side bed photos
    • jack mount under the bench seat
    • pics of the truck at various car shows
    • shots and details of the hubcaps
    • up close shots of the wheels, no hubcaps on 'em
    • reproduction, black original style brake lights
    • west coast jr. mirror and other related photos
    • 1965 vacuum brake booster with 1969 dual pot mc for drums photos
    • shots of the chrome bumper guards
    • more brake shots with the drums off
    • the '65 c10 side emblem
    • the under the bed spare tire setup
    • sunpro II in dash tachometer installation(with handy links included!)
    • front brake hose
    • brake pedal push rod
    • instrument cluster with gauges
    • tutorial on vent window spring adjustment (to keep the vent window snug when it's open)
    • more brake shots, ps steering box(I think it is a 67-72 style), shock mounts on coil spring truck, etc.

There ya go, in case ya'll are looking for a photo of one of those areas/parts/pieces!

I am wanting to do my rear suspension on my 63 shortbed and I was thinking about just replacing the coil springs with bags and not cutting into the frame but don't know how low that will drop my truck. Any tips or advice for me??

Might need to do a small c-notch to make it worth it.

These trucks do not go very low without modifying the frame.

I thought mine was pretty low without modifying the frame.

A notch will get you 2 3/4" more out back though- or get a step notch for even more.

Bags are an easy solution but not cheap. Attached is my solution. The top of the springs are level with the top of the frame, so it is much lower.

Thanks for the advice everyone it has stock springs with 2 inch blocks so I think as a temporary fix I'm gonna put 3 inch drop springs in the back and get all the body, paint, interior, exhaust n some motor work done. Research how wanna set up the whole suspension in the meantime. Thanks again everyone see you round.

I posted that in this thread about a year ago. I didn't find a "decent longbed", but I did drag home a rusty '64 shortbed. Its been sitting for several years, but I tinkered with it earlier & she does still crank over. Gonna mess with it again tomorrow evening & get it fired up..... well, thats how I plan on it going. :D

They look like hood vents off a 68/69 camaro SS to me.

  20. I was guessing a '67 Camaro SS.

what kind of setup did you go with on the rear end for it to sit like that?? I have a 63 shortbed fleetside I just bought 4 inch drop coils for it hoping that will give it a level stance.

This 63 Chevy Truck has been in the family since 76. It was a 283 with 3 on the tree, Was used for tree trimming business. i have pretty much rebuilt the whole truck to be a street strip Gasser style. it has a 400 with turbo 400 4:11 posi in back and hauls the mail.

What axle are you running with that posi? I wasn't aware that a posi was available with factory axles. I went to a '67 six lug axle to be able to run an aftermarket positrax.

Same here.. 5 lug disk from a 71-72, and factory 6 lug rear. I plan on just pulling the axles and ordering new ones drilled to 5 lug.. Right now, I have any extra set of '96 Impala SS wheels on the front, just so she will roll. 400 SBC still sitting on the engine stand in the barn. I'll get to her one day..

It's hell to turn, with those 17x8 wheels on the front.

Here is my 1964 C-10. Static drop in the front with springs and spindles. Air bags and a C notch in the rear. 350 backed by a 350 turbo. Nice solid Texas truck.

Tastefully done! Love the tire and wheel combination. They don't steal the attention from the rest of the truck, which appears extra nice. ~WX1
