Hey everyone, just a quick question if one of you guys have access to a hollander database, I need a drivers side manual window regulator for a 58 Impala. The car was parked for many years and that is one of the many parts that vanished from the car. I can buy new power windows but want to stay manual. Thanks in advance, Brian
The hollanders lists regulator number 703 for that application, and the Impala is the only car listed under number 703. Sorry.
If it is a rare and expensive part, and it looks like a 2dr sedan? (that would not need a complicated regulator), you might find a manual reg in a modern car that is enclosed cable, somewhat adjustable, and have correct splines for the handle. I'd take a look at jeep cherokee either '96 down or the more compact one is like 97 to 01 I think. Those might have the same spline?
another thing you can do is take out the pass side regulator and see if you can find something that's similar from another car (like the bonneville, etc) and cut and weld enough to make it match. just make sure you make a mirror image for the other side
you might be able to use a 58 chevy 4 dr regulator or something. It's worth looking at some and seeing what it would take to make it work
"The 4 door ones don't have 2 arms that cross in the middle but many other years.." There you go, that's how you get started solving the problem. You may be able to extend or shorten arms from another Parts Car* to fit. Think B & O (buick and olds) , like the B & O Railroad and P & C (Pontiac and Chevy) like... well... * Parts Car, as a rule of thumb for GM interchanges. Hollander is the friend that encourages you to think about the question. All the best, Dale Cleveland OH
