okay still not the biggest update, but we are trying to make the rear bumber look right!

its a 1950 ford bumber, and 49 bumber guards. the corners are cut down and reshaped.
here the car is in a 1953 version..in black! notice the more pointy bumber ends.

heres the stock shape of the bumber..wrong side, but you get the point!

so we had to cut this piece out of the bumber to get the right curve. small detail, but it feels good to have it done right!

we had to massage both corners to make them follow the bumber curve. and it all seems right now.

next thing is to cut the bumber, and to make these small lenses in plexiglass..more later!

check out the license plate #

    stay tuned

  5. Nice to see you are covering all the small details Palle. This is going to be top notch.

    thanks for the kind words...
yesterday i started on the lenses in the rear bumber. i was lucky to find this piece of plexiglass..2" thick. so know its just cutting and grinding. hopefully today i will have them finished.
but I also realized, that the guy who sold me the 1950 Ford bumberguards..is an idiot! ha ha
he sold me two right side guards! so please..if someone has a 50 bumber guard.LEFT side please let me know if I can buy it!

and heres the damn guards...please check your collection. maybe you have two left side guards!!!!

So glad someone with the correct "mind set" is re-doing this car....it is always the details that make or break a restoration and your attention to it is highly praise worthy! Outstanding job man...!

It's been said, but I really appreciate your attention to detail man! Thanks for making it right. I know it's not correct, but I actually really dig the orange color thats on the car right now.

    okay guys..not dead!
we have been working on the rusty parts in the car, its now almost as good as new, and the body will soon go back on the frame.
the LONG 41 skirts is molded to fit the body. and it shows how long these skirts really are

the underneath of the car has been cleaned of and primed. we are spraying it to try make it look like the ZAR, that was all over the car before i cleaned it to bare metall.
i dont want it to look all shiny and over restored.

the panels where a bit rusty, and we decided to change the in both sides.

okay nothing fancy, but just lots of things needed to be done!
i personally cant wait till the car is in bare metall. thats where all the fun starts!

    thanks for looking

    palle

Agape auto makes steel skirts. I have used them befor and maybe they can help with the skirt issue. Phone agape at 812-423-7332. Good luck..larry

  29. Nice Palle! I'm enjoying the updates and love the approach you are taking with the restoration - keeping with the appearance of the original build while improving the little things which will make a great difference in the car. All that without spoiling the concept or the history. ..Great!

Was there much fiddling to get the '41 skirts to conform to the rear quarters?
