  1. I just love it how you are able to slip in so many pics of the humble Corvair :)

I had a '64 Spyder coupe and a '65 Monza4dr H/T, both interesting and immensely frustrating cars, long may they rust :)

    Thanks for sharing.

  20. I believe the guy in the middle with the cigar is George W. Mason, the president of AMC who brought Romney into the corporation. That means this photo is no later than 1954, which is when Mason passed away unexpectedly.

Cool, I'm about 15 miles from Orion, IL and my cousin was a lineman for Sherrard Power. We were lucky and had Illinois Power, service on the Sherrard system was "less than reliable" and that's being kind! The house in the background even looks kind of familiar but then again a lot of houses around here looked like that when I was a kid.

  22. Makes sense, and I'm quite certain it is him. I did a little e-research; he became chairman/president of AMC in '54 (was with Nash-Kelvinator since '48) until 1962 when elected Michigan Governor. I still remember seeing him when he was MI governor. He came into the small town near where we lived, in a chauffer-driven Rambler Ambassador! Must've been '64ish or so.

The Tucker Corporation used this Budd RB-1 in 1948 to fly its Tucker Automobile prototypes all over the country
