What part or piece have you started with in building your ride? I was at a swap meet and bought a set of Chevy big block Moroso Valve Covers. My friend asked me what I was doing since I didn't own a big block.I told him I was buying them for my next ride!!!! He looked at me like I was crazy. But I did build my next ride around them. Was I crazy?
No you're not crazy. Creative maybe but not crazy. I find this hobby of ours takes A LOT of imagination. That is what I like about it.
On this project I started with the first picture, and with progress so far it looks like the second picture.... Cheers,
I bought a 1937 Harley rear fender about 20 years ago and colleced just about everything to build a correct twin to the one my Dad bought new.
I buy stuff all the time. Usually in a weak moment of 'oh that's cool'. Sometimes i use it, sometimes not.
Maybe we're all a bit crazy like that Yankbuilt! A buddy of mine knew I wanted to build a rod, so, (way) back when everyone and their dog were running teardrop tail lamps he gave me a set of Pontiacs telling me that I could have 'em if I'd stop dreaming and start building! Built the car 'round them! ...'course now everyone and their dog has the Pontiacs. Sigh... -Dave
I started with this... Added this... Made this... This... Got the chassis to this... Dropped the axle myself like this... Long way to go yet... David
With out asking first I swapped the floor mats out of Dad's brand new 1961 Ford for a 1932 Ford grille insert. Its been hanging on the wall for 51 years now, some day it will be in front of my Roadster. Bob
Does it make me a bad guy if the e-wheel picture gave me "about a half a stick?" As far as my project, I started with a vision, and not a lick of sense. Still have the vision, still don't have any sense.
nice work mindover. i started with a good drivetrain in my apache, body was shit. and i mean SHIT lol. ran like a scalded dog for the 4 hour drive home though
I don't usually post any work I have done but the beer is flowing well tonight.... I started with some 2X3X3/16 tubing, a rusty '27 cowl frame and the remains of the back section of '13 phaeton. The pictures are not current but that's ok. I never added the double reverse to the cowl skin when I made it. Maybe I will after I study David's (Mindover) DVD when it arrives. The last picture is pure mock up. Nothing in place where it will be and not even the final ladder bars I made are in this picture. I have functioning suspension front and back now. Oh.. the doors were made from the side panels of server-sized computers. I left the spec sheet on the inside just for giggles. This will be full-fendered as per laws here. I'd love to have '28 style fenders. Again, maybe after I study Mindover's dvd. It's not the calibre of work that many of you do but it's fun and cheap (like me, or so I'm told). Joe
A few years ago pulled a fireflite hemi out of a 55 Desoto Then a couple years ago, the dash out of a 56 Chevy Then last month a coupe for the body.... It's getting there.... oh this is the next build....
