I'd also like to wish Chuck Waid (the other driver) a speedy recovery.

So sad , Prayers for the family and for a speedy recovery for the other driver .

  3. Metal guard rails need to be replaced at any track that still has them. Rich would be alive today if Thompson had upgraded to cement Jersey barrier style walls.

It is always sad when someones life is lost in an accident like this. I cannot imagine the hurt his family and friends must be going through. Speedy recovery to the other driver involved. Heroic effort to try to minimize the damage, he would have no way of knowing the damage was already done.

RIP - thoughts with his family and extend group of friends.

  11. Damn, that really sucks. No one ever wants to see one waded up and lest when it is waded up and the driver doesn't make the trip.

RIP friend. My best wishes for the family.

  16. Tony Pedregon said it best when Scott Kalitta was killed. These tracks need to be updated. The cars today are going twice as fast as they were when these tracks were built. The older tracks need to be updated with better guard walls, longer shutdown areas and better provisions should a car go off the end of the track. If they can't or won't update then these tracks should be shutdown and prevented to run a race until they do.

We just lost a Sprint Car driver in Nor. Cal due to a freak explosion while changing a tire. I just read about this. Life is a gift, we need to cherish it every day. Each of us needs to enjoy our loved ones to the fullest, we don't know if they will be here tommorow. My prayers are with the families who have lost their precious loved ones this past weekend. I pray healing for the other driver as he recovers from his injury and the mental anguish of losing a fellow competitor. May God provide comfort and peace to all of us as we grieve this loss.

What a tragic accident this was. Having very close friends that race we all know the risk that is involved. At least he was doing what he loved. God bless all of his family and friends.

Seems a little gruesome to be viewing that video, but then it is a bit of a wakeup call that anything can happen to any of us at any time. Scary, scary stuff.

Sadly not the first but I hope the last . Armco rails have had their day . They were great when they were all that was available . We are made to improve our safety equipment so now the tracks should as well .
