OK, this will sound like a dumb question, but better to ask now than repair later... I bought an H-260-2 Crane cam for my 400 <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:stockticker w:st="on">SBC</st1:stockticker>. I still need lifters. Are all <st1:stockticker w:st="on">SBC</st1:stockticker> flat tappet hydraulics lifters the same? I mean, can I just go on eBay and buy a stock set, or do I need anti-pump up or something special? It's Just a stock street motor built for low-RPM torque Where is the best place to buy inexpensive lifters? Thanks.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
In expensive lifters are going to lead you to flat cam. Your better off buying a good lifter that will work with your cam.
Stock (hydraulic) lifters. Be careful not to get solid lifters. They are not expensive so get a good quality lifter or you will buy them again WITH another cam too! A good break-in lube is real important. So is using a zinc additive in the oil after.
the 260 cam aint big so run stock lifters but use a quality lifter or you could be buying another cam shortly.
I run erson anti pump up lifters on my crane cam shaft. Not all lifters are created equally. I would not buy an internal engine part from a stranger on E-bay if my life depended on it.
Dang, I found a "NOS" set of speed-pro lifters in my parts bin...they have small bits of surface rust on them. Cool box though.
