Some of you know my Dad is "on his way out". I am his caretaker. My Sister came over the other day to "spell " me and give me a chance to spend the day with my Daughter-in-law, and my 3yr old Grandson Rex. One of the things we did was take a little cruise around the neighborhood in 32gals Roadster. I put Rex on my lap and let him "steer" much the same as my Dad did to me when i was little. Heres a couple of pics that tell the whole story.
Thanks....I actually let him steer without my help, course we were "crawling" along at idel speed. I hope it will stay in his memory.
Life is about the little things. An act as simple as you have just proformed can change the world for a person forever.
If Rex didn't inherit the "car bug" gene from you, the memory you just created for him may ignite the fire that burns inside all of us! Way to go!!
I remember sitting on my brothers lap as "I DROVE ALL THE WAY" back to L.A. from Houston, TX when I was about 3years old. You dont forget, well maybe a few details.
Cruzr's grandson Rex is very advanced for his age, he is more like a 4yr old. I was watching from the curb when they drove by.
My Dad did that for me when I was little. For any UK hambers, it was on Pendine Sands in a Ford 100E Prefect. Mart.
Nice moments, Randy.......I hope to do that with my little grandson, Owen as soon as he is a little older........my wife and I care for the little guy two days a week to give our daughter a break on the cost of day care........and I have to admit, I just love taking care of him and playing on the floor.......... My day will come.......best to you.... CB
That's a great memory for him and you! Sorry to hear about your dad. It is very hard to deal with. Buy and read a book called Final Gifts, It will make it a bit easier for you.
Great memories -Iremember sitting on my dad's lap steering his truck around ... you never forget . I'll do that for my daughter someday , and hopefully she'll remember .
That's so awesome Cruzr!!!! Shit I remember driving on my father's lap in his 1980 Pontiac and that thing was dumb so he'll definitely cherish that moment!!! Passing on the torch from generation to generation.
I can't help remembering a line from Pogo in the early '50's: "Hot the rod and spoil the child"...the story of my life, now maybe his!
