Where can I get a bearing race for a 60 Belair??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tugmaster, Jun 3, 2012.

  1. The P/S outer bearing race on my Belair is pretty ptted and I need to replace it. I looked in all the usual catalogs with no luck. Does anyone no if these are still made? Or do I need to scrounge a used one? They used caged ball bearings up until 60. Thanks, Todd

Try King Bearing on the web. Give them the # off the old one. Iv'e had good luck with them.

  3. If you have a mill service in your area they will normally be able to match one up for you. Or a tractor dealer.

Aren't those the sticker shock ones?
I believe up to 1962 Corvette used the ball style.
    Not cheap at auto stores!

  10. I did find one through my local Ma&Pa auto parts store. It's $51 for just one outer bearing! YIKES! I did some looking around and Ecklers has a complete upgrade frome ball to roller bearings, including new hubs for less than $200.00 I think this may be a good way to go.

Bought that for my '58 from Eckler's Late Great. Took a couple months to get it, but I got it. Will advise here when it is installed.

Buy some hubs from a 63-70 Chevy. They will be tapered bearings.

I simply put 61 chevy roller bearings in my 60 impala with no problems. Direct fit.

We were changing to to roller bearings in the 60,s. Never were worth a shit.
