I figured it was only a matter of time til Mike and StanceWorks popped up over here. His 5 series, "Rusty", has been a fave of mine since he first crunched that A pillar. Killer truck man!
^ oh he's been here before this... he's building an old ford rod now, but the HAMBer's weren't impressed.
Damn, bro.......you have great taste! mine -----> http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=30697&pictureid=350076
killer truck, really like the stance.... not feeling the back window treatment but as we live in america...... over all kick ass ride
Awesome truck! Stance is perfect. Inspired. Thanks for sharing. Photos are great too. Just waiting on wheels and tires over here.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=33830&pictureid=387183
Wow, REALLY nicely done. Why was it necessary to reposition the shock mounts? Can you tell us more about the suspension work? How many inches dropped is the axle? What do you think you've got for total drop front & rear and how is the ride - really?
Nice looking ride and well proportioned. The details like the upside down bumper, window blinds and black license are good. Interesting headliner too. I am not really a "in the weeds" guy but it looks good on this truck. how do the yellow headlights work out? More pics inside, out and underneath would be nice to see.
truck has a 6" drop axle and 3" drop mono leafs up front... rear uses 6" drop mono leafs, with 3" extended rear shackles to get it to sit even, which wasn't easy. the frame was notched as was the rear cross member to make room for travel in back and the bed lifted about 3.5" ...with the new geometry, we fabricated new shock mounts when doing the reared swap. the 12-bolt being from a camaro needed new spring pads, and had to play with the shock so have a actual usable angle. same goes for the front... the steering was a mess combined with bent arms & rods and a loose as a goose steering box. it's pretty damn nice considering. this thing is a true kustom rod, so I wanted to keep it crude and run the straight axle suspension, no power steering, and even keep the drum brakes (tho upgraded) despite those around me telling me to update. shit they're bias ply's too...and when I burn thru them, I'm sticking with em, but upgrading to L78's. shaving down the bump stops to nearly nothing helped a lot, and the steering overhaul eliminated the bump steer I was having early on. all in all it drives like a 50's pick-up, but a shit load faster and a hell of a lot lower. as the article reads, we drove it down to monterey for the shoot.
