That jig you came up with is fantastic. This is a great looking chop so far. Great proportions. You are giving me lots of inspiration, ideas, and knowledge to apply towards my project. Thanks for sharing guys. Ed
Working on the catwalk panels- In some respects this may be the coolest and most unusual element of this chop. moving the rear window forward is something we've seen on other chops, but never on a Chevy. I don't doubt someone has done it, and would love to see it if they have.
She's looking good! Not to piss in your wheeties or anything, but you asked if anyone else did an extended catwalk. I extended mine about 2 1/2 years ago, and I got some insperation for a few other chops here on the HAMB. Here is my build thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=390824 I also sectioned the trunk, and matched the angle with the catwalk. Right now I'm almost done wet sanding primer, and mine will be in color this year (crossing fingers) Keep up the good work!
Hey Tommy, Thanks much for adding to this thread. Your build is awesome. You took on and even bigger POS basketcase roof than we did..but mine did suck..(see link at beginning of the thread for a blow by blow of that horrorshow) Anyway, I was actually by some of the same cars you were. Suck minds must think alike. Keep goin' on that your build..It's awesome.
Your very welcome! One little dent doesn't make a POS! Your putting the belt line back on right? If you are, do you think you can use the SST on it? That's one thing I wish I would have been able to do differently.
More pics., Got the trunk working with no flex in the package tray. Started the miles of welding that this thing is going to have. The amount of extra work to get just 2" of forward movement with the window is so worth it. The lines on this car are just coming together nicely. We do plan on using the beltline trim, it is going to take some tweaking to make it fit. Thanks for all the great comments. Thanks, Jon.
Today was one of those great days that keep ya going on a build..The Sail panels areall fabbed and tacked in place. It's awesome and energizing finally get to see the whole profile and I'm freakin' thrilled. Everything flows and rolls just the way I had hoped and Jon's idea of moving the rear window forward ..well..I love the result..

Absolutely stunning flow on your roof.Great lookin car too....I love hearing how you were working on getting the stance where you wanted it . Roof is one of the best I have seen on a chevy,great lookin Custom.
Thanks for the kind words you guys. It's pretty amazing when ya have a vision and it finally comes together how you picture it..or even a little better. I'm now a firm believer in that a car will tell you what it wants..what is right for it .This Chevy certainly has, but she also hasn't always made it easy getting there, and I have not doubt that she still has some more difficult days in store .But, Jon and I will be back at it tomorrow nite.. I can't wait to get in primer, get some seats and glass in , throw on the lakes pipes and lights and stuff and just get on the road for awhile .
