    So much has been learned in the past few years about the combustion process. Has anyone been able to apply that knowledge to flathead design? Sounds very strange for a 70 year old book to used as the flathead "Bible". Look at how much the OHV design has changed in that length of time.

    I know the thread is about flow, but combustion quality is equally important.

    Hey, Steve;

    In the 1001 Rod & Custom Ideas, circa '77, (IIRC, there were also articles on 20's dirt-trackers - from a PopMech, board-trackers, 30's Indy cars, & there was an interview w/Winfield. Included was a lot of info on Eds' heads' chambers. Description only. Think Tom Senter & Kong Jackson did it.

    If I can find it, I'll re-type to post it here. But it probably won't be soon... If someone else can copy'n'paste it, that's be great.

    Marcus...

    So much of a flathead's breathing potential has to do with the ports in the blocks, arguably more so then the heads. Bored&Stroked wrote an excellent thread on porting the flathead that may be useful to Stevie.
