I came home last night, and my wife had this sitting in the garage waiting for me. Is she awesome or what? It's a 6 cyl 3 spd. My head is spinning, it'll definitely be budget oriented.

Yeah I'm gonna buy it. My wife's uncle had it on his car lot. I've been drooling over it since September last year. So she went and talked to him about it and it'll be mine tomorrow.

Uncle to your wife: "Ok Ok...he can have the truck. Just keep him out of the lot. He's keeping customers away...drool all over the place...making strange whimpering sounds...talking to himself..."

    Congrats...lol.

I once saw a car with a hood FULL of those hood ornaments. Bolted all over.

    Nice truck.

Nice. I had a 65 Fleetside with a straight 6 and 'three on the tree'. It's fun to drive the manual shift on the column, but I had to pull over and free up the linkage a few times before I got the hang of it.

I also remember rebuilding the steering column a few times -until I got some good tires with stiff sidewalls. It reduced the contact patch and made the steering much lighter.

I put in a good stereo, but tore it up a bit so nobody would steal it, and I installed a kill switch to deter the thieves.

    Have fun,

    Kelvin

It was a three on the tree, somebody has converted it to a floor shift. I wish it was still on the column. I think they are cool and not everybody can figure them out.

    Recon,

Very Cool! The truck looks great. I would recommend losing the hood ornament though...just sayin'.

Thor1 that was the first thing i was going to do. My wife and step-son are having a fit they love that thing!? I don't get it. It'll still come off at some point.

Right now, I'm going to worry about the body as it runs fine. I want to put a 5-speed in it. Don't know if it will bolt up to the original six, though, does anybody know if it will? Or if there is a way to make it work?

The chrome is really nice, most of it looks new. Except the door handles which will have to be re-chromed.

  20. You got good one - pickup and wife. Make sure you take her out to dinner and cross something off of the honey-do list!

A little F100 with a six and a stick, they don't get much more reliable than that. That bird looks like it needs an old trophy base to perch on.

I had a light blue '65 short narrow Ford- and even had it when I lived in Tennessee some years ago. Makes me wish I still had it. That is cool- you are going to love that truck. Great story- she dun you good!

  23. That's really cool.....
Bout the only thing I ever find in my garage is a dead possum.

'Back in the day', that was a
    common, albeit futile attempt by
    the 'terminally brain-dead' to build
"flying cars". The theory was that
if you could somehow just bolt
    enough of those "bird" hood
ornaments all over your car, that
when it reached a certain critical
speed, enough air would be moving
    over the birds outstretched wings,
that your car would then suddenly
    become airborne and start flying!
Even back then then though, most
of us knew that that was totally
    impossible and that we wouldn't
be driving real 'flying cars' - (and
    most likely, 'atomic-powered' ones
at that, too!) - until the year
    2000!:eek::eek::D:D

  25. Custom Cab, or just the grille?? Either way, nice truck. And, yes, I am biased, had an F350 300/4spd a couple (dozen) years ago. Good looker.

Yours is probably a 240cid, 300 is a bolt-in, unless my memory has fogged.

Grab a later rear with taller gears and that might be all the change you'll want to do for quite a while.

I don't know if is a true custom cab, to be honest I don't know how to tell. The door handles and dash say custom cab. Anyone know how to tell for sure?
