Do the wires for the turn signal switch go down the center of the steering column on a 1953 Chevy Sedan Steering Column?

One other question you may be able to answer. How is the horn button held onto the center of the steering wheel. I have a new horn button, but it doesn't have anything to hold it in place. What is supposed to do that?

    Thanks for your reply.

I think i remember there being a wire ring around the horn button. This locked onto the tabs on the horn ring. cesar
