For some reason, the guages popped out me. They just look perfect. No under or over done. Love these stories and even better when there is pictures to back it up.

  8. Your probably right. Funny when you offer him Chevy dog dish rims and hubcaps for a couple of cases of beer , how fast he shoots over here.

That dashboard is hideous! I'll be glad to take it off your hands so you can install a better looking one.

    You're welcome.

Well, its time for an update on the roadster, finally been back working on it after the addition of a new family member, my baby girl Ardun.

After we took the body off i knew we had to address the rear frame horns as they had been broken off, Ed has put a hitch on the car and pulled his 39 ford dirt track car around, needless to say it was hard on the rear frame horns, also the fact that alot of the horns were cut away for spring clearance didnt help the situation.

So we did alot of cleaning up bad welds and torch slag and reatatched the rear horns, we then proceeded to box in the rear horns, box in the spring notch and box up to the original c notch boxing plates, basically making the rear of the frame bullet proof. we had also removed the rear end to get it out of the way while we did this and found that driveshaft had seperated itself from the rear coupler and also wore the splines out on the coupler pretty bad, thankfully the splines on the pinion were still fine, so we took another 40 driveshaft and coupler and shortened it up to fit into the torque tube, so now the torque tube and driveshaft are back on the rear end for good.

We also had plans to fix up the rear floors where the tube crossmember sticks thru as they were done kinda crudely back in the day, so we spent half the day heating up old undercoadting and removing that and pulling out the bad rear floor section someone had put in over the original rear floor section, so it actually cleaned up really well and with a little tlc to the rear subrails and floor it should be good as new.

Then we proceeded to yank the flathead out as i need to go thru a few things on it. we are also going to yank out the trans and regasket it and put a new trans mount on it.

so thats basically were its at, ill be puting the motor up on the stand in the next day or two and do some work to it and were gonna try and get the body back on this week or weekend and get the rear floors done, then were just gonna be down to the basicas of brake and fuel lines and rewireing etc etc.

    stay tuned
    jeff

we also had to repair the feet on the firewall, some reason the rear of the flange that atatched to the frame had been torched off, so we put those back on.

WE also put some tube shocks on the back, Ed said the thing road like crap and needed shocks for sure, there they are!

And on another good note, we found a set of Grancor heads for the car.

Thanks to Angelo Van Bogart who is the editor for Old Cars Weekly and a family friend had seen the 2 32s at the GSTA car show and wanted to come shoot pics and do a story on them in old cars weekly, well he did and added to the article that we were looking for a set of heads.

Well dont you know, one of the readers email him and said he had a set and would sell them, so Angelo got me in contact with him and we got them.

So id also like to thanks Dan Jirus who lives just outside of Chicago for selling us a set of Grancor heads and helped us find the last big peice of the puzzle to put the car back together. Dan said that the heads were his fathers and that his father was big into flathead back in the day.

HI-titus you have the shocks going the wrong way. They should be turned around the opposite direction. Also, I would strongly advise you replace the rear crossmember with either a stock '32 or some of the newer ones. Fish plates are okay.

The shocks can go either way, everyony is just use to them going the other direction, this is the way they fit the best and will work just fine.

and whats so wrong with the rear crossmember? if you see it in person the way its attatched is plenty strong and isnt going anywhere

  22. I always liked the cut rear Ford fenders and the cycle fenders up front. Don't see them being built that way anymore. There were a lot like that in the 50's I know.

    Nice find.

I think you are doing a great job preserving this old hotrod. Is that 59ab a race motor or is it mostly stock?

I disagree 100% the frame is actually in very nice condition and very well built for back in the day, you cant see it in person and all your looking at are pics, whats wrong with the tube crossemember? nothing at all, they were very nicely done back in the day, it was someones mod later that caused the rear horns to break off. i just dont get where 2 tube crossmembers makes it unusable? and wrong, sorry its not just another ugly gold chainer 32 roadster thats looks the same as all the other stupid boring 32 roadsters.

Just a stocker for now, we may do more to it later but Ed just wants to drive the it so well just put the intake and heads on it and just run the center carb, less headaches for him to deal with.

Well, I think it looks awesome and I'm glad to see you're preserving the history and repairing what's there rather than 1-800-hot-rod-parts-ing it. Keep it up, it looks kickass!
