Parts that will be rare and desirable in the future? Far from hot rods, but, anything S13/S14 or R32/R33 Nissan, AE86 Toyota, FC Mazda (really anything 13B). The drifters are tearing them to bits right now, and they will be the traditional cars of 40 years from now.

If "drifters" are going to be the traditional cars 40 years from now, I hope I'm dead and gone.

Won't be a need for them. What's the law now? You can only smoke in your ROOM, with the lights out, under the covers, and on days ending with R? A ban on smoking in your own POV is just a short way away. And that's if anyone can AFFORD a pack...

Its already illegal to smoke in your car if there are kids on board here.

Nobody has chimed in with a '77-'79 Lincoln Versailles rear end.... which is a 9" with disc brakes and only 58" wide.... perfect for most big body cars like 50s-60s GMs that like to run reverse wheels and skirts! VERY HARD TO FIND NOW!

    Any part I need.

If I don't need it the yard has ten. If I do, nothing.

  13. 57-60 Ford pickup truck steering boxes and columns. Getting hard to find now and popular for a hot rod swap. Manual S-10 steering boxes are not so common and will become popular. 8-inch or 9-inch rearends are getting tougher to find. Any now defunct 60's-70's domestic large V8 like Pontiac, Olds, Buick, Cadillac, Mopar.

As for cars that will become more popular, the 78-87 GM A and G-body cars, the 5.0 Mustangs, 73-87 GM pickups.

It isn't much to write home about. More-door, picked to pieces, not much left worth saving. Except maybe that 283. I'll be heading that way again next week.

Just about anything pre 1985 and rear wheel drive is getting hard to find around here in all but a couple of wrecking yards. Several only handle stuff less than 15 years old and rotate the stock on a hell for regular basis.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a complete LT1 intake setup this morning. Got the whole shootin' match; intake, fuel rails, injectors, throttle body, MAF, ECU, sensors... I don't have a use for it right now, but it's one of those things that will be hard as hell to find down the road.

  21. Thought of another item to grab if you ever see one: The early 60's Chevy truck V8 bellhousings with the hydraulic clutch and fork on the passenger (right) side. These are very nice for a rod with limited room. Use the same brake/clutch master cyl from these trucks also for a neat period correct setup. Getting pretty hard to find any early 60's Chevy trucks though, and then seems like 6 cyl or V8 automatic. V8 manual are hard to find.
