can someone tell me the difference between a 49 ford coupe and sedan? other than the side woindows rolling down in a sedan and wing windows in a coupe.

  2. different roof line. The sedan has a much longer roof line than the coupe. The club coupe has wing windows in the rear, business coupe has fixed windows that are the same size as the club coupe. no rear seat in the business coupe and less legroom for the rear passengers in the club coupe than the sedan.

the sedan is a little easier to chop because of the longer roof lines

There are many people who would argue that point.

Yes, there are some great chopped sedans. I wouldn't chop a coupe they're beautiful just the way they are.

Sedans chop better than a coupe will . I have a 49 tudor sedan and love the way they look . I think they look much better than a coupe does . The coupes look funny to me .

    my 2 cents? chopping a sedan= good. chopping a coupe= bad.

  21. I must be the only guy left on here that prefers an unchopped shoebox.

Having said that, post some pic's of your progress...

  22. I don't agree with a lot of that yes Tudors would be easier and u can get good lines but coupes look good chopped also if done subtle. Mine a coupe and I wouldn't change a thing. But then again like I just did everyone is entitled to there opinion Aslong as ur working on/driving a shoebox ur right. We call them spinners in aus and as my and my buddies say 'ur always a winner in a spinner'

  23. This is just over a year ago when it was in Texas. I love coupes but man I much prefer it like it is now.
Love unchopped coupes look cool with subtle custom touches too.

As the owner of a 50' Sedan I'd agree.

Check out the May issue of Street Rodder. It features a really nice chopped '49 sedan. Moved the C pillars forward 4 inches in the process. Looks great.

  26. I like chopped, unchopped, etc. As long as they are done right, they all look good. I guess none here would like my chopped 49 Coupe then... Oh well, I do! :)

I have a '50 Coupe and prefer it to the Sedan (owned one of those a long time ago) but either are nice.

The one featured in Street Rodder had me doing a double-take until I read the story. Best looking chopped shoebox I have EVER seen. Just my opinion of course.......yours may vary :)

There isn't a car made for which the sedan looks better than the coupe. In my opinion !

Honestly, and mine isn't chopped, I like the sedan because it has more room and I can get more of my buddies in the car when we head out.

My son is right in the middle of having his 51 coupe chopped but he is adding in some sedan roof pieces from a 49 he found in the woods (it was trashed). It will be a combo chop somewhere in the middle. I will post some pictures soon from start to finish. Should be interesting!
