Did some horse trading awhile back and ended up with this. Whatever could be hacked or messed with (in the wrong way) was... However.. it does have a good running 283 that just needs a carb rebuild and a good cleaning. Tons of body work ahead.. inside was... how do you say...crapola.. looked like somebody at one time had stuck fuzzy carpet over everything.. not sure what they used, but the stuff does not come off. Has a TH350 in it.. leaks like crazy, but I think I'll keep it.. for now. Anyway.. plans are to make it a runner/driver (daily).. and just drive the wheels off the thing. :D

I'd bet a few Hippies had a good time in that one in the late 60's early 70's by the shag carpet being in it.

It looks like you are on the way to making a presentable car out of it though.

Ahh a 58, one of my favorites. Always thought about doing a wagon. They have some nice lines and are a unique one year design. On my last one I used a 54 Chevy grille and 50 Pontiac taillights. They gave me the mild look I was going for and got me some nice compliments on that look.

Finally got the cheapie shifter fabbed up and installed. Next time a Lockar for ease of install.

Also turning the push button lock into a 3rd brake light. Will open the tail gate with a solenoid.

283 is tired. Need to figure out if I stay with that or build something up. I'll use the 283 for awhile.. but I had a '58 Impala with the 348 tri-carb setup.. wouldn't mind something like that again...

It was that or do more of a clear lens on it and put some wings on each side.. turn it into a flying eyeball. I dunno.. something lit rather than the ol' push button lock back there.

  21. That thing has come a long way. Looks great. I love those colors.
