Hey guys, I'm in the market for an older Bridgeport mill and Clausing lathe. I'd like to see some examples of things you've done with your lathe or mill. Thanks. Ed
Everything I've made is either sold or installed. I've made many a hotrod or stock part on my Bridgeport and also a small fortune in commercial machined parts. My advice is to get the best machinery possible and with a DRO (digital readout) if possible. Bob
I'm a hack in some peoples minds , I make simple things and fix stuff for cheap. I don't buy much, like repro parts, kit car hotrod parts, etc. Yesterday milled a caster compensating wedge for a 32 front spring. Machined my flywheel on an Ammco lathe. Machined my pressure plate on a conventional lathe. Made a pilot bushing adaptor for Olds-to-Ford trans, conv lathe Milled vintage warped header flanges after milling the holding fixture. Cut starter armature. Milled intake manifold adapter plates for 303 to 324 Olds. Made hubcap adapter rings from 40 ford wheel centers put VW rim hoops on 40 ford wheel centers, Made Lake header end caps Just a few that were recent
Here's a great old Clausing lathe for sale in the classifieds: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=671906
I have copies of the Service / Parts Manual for the Cincinnati No. 1 Toolmaster milling machines. Like a Bridgeport on a small dose of steroids. PM me if you want a copy, can make you a real deal !!
Dad is pulling some of his machines up here from Hawaii. A wartime Bridgeport J2 with a slotter / power fed and dro, and a Lagun gapbed... I just have to come up with a shop to put them in or he is going to keep them at the machine shop up here in Alaska.
